Hibernate is an object-relational mapping library for Java and can be used with XPages. PSC at MWLUG

July 9 2012

Midwest Lotus User Group, otherwise known as MWLUG, is coming in just over a month! I am pleased to announce that four sessions given by PSC employees appear on the agenda: SB103: IBM Lotus Notes/Domino App. Dev. Competitive Advantage: The Social Business Edition Speaker: John Head - PSC Group, and John Beck - IBM Corporation, IBM Collaboration Solutions Worldwide Messaging Business Unit Executive Some organizations are neglecting or under-utilizing one of the greatest IT assets in their portfolio today - the Notes/Domino application platform. Some are even considering re-coding Domino applications in other languages and development tools. In this session we present the business case and technical merits of Notes and Domino in direct comparison to other tools such as Microsoft SharePoint. We will put application migration and new application development head to head. Based on data collected from real-world engagements we will demonstrate the positive return on investment of the Note

MWLUG 2011: @Edbrill talks about Notes/Domino 8.5.4, Notes ’Next’, LotusLive Symphony, and the future of the Notes Basic Client

August 26 2011

Miss Ed Brill's session at MWLUG "IBM Messaging Update"? Since the room only held about 50 people, it is most likely you did. I has asked Ed earlier in the day if he was talking about anything new. He said probably not, just due to the timing of the conference vs the quarter. Made sense. Then I sat in his session and heard 4 topics where he talked publically in a fashion I have not heard before. 1. Notes & Domino 8.5.4 is coming in 2012 Ed talked about the next release of the product, 8.5.4. This will be primarily a maintenance release, in contrast to 8.5.1, 8.5.2, and 8.5.3. It will introduce some back-end services needed for the next news item. 2. Notes Next is coming in 2012 - and it won't be called 9 A feature pack is coming in 2012 that will bring the Project Vulcan and Social Business experiences to the Notes client. It will also elevate the web and mobile experience to be 1st class citizens in the client world. We got to see the current version of the UI - and it's very

MWLUG 2010 - Thoughts

August 23 2010

Last week, in Cleveland, Ohio, the second MWLUG took place. MWLUG 2010 was bigger and better than the first last year. Here are some thoughts on the conference: 1. The conference really came into it's own this year. As much as I liked being in Chicago last year - and being at the IBM Innovation Center - being a hotel in another city took MWLUG to it's user group roots. It felt like a user group conference - not something IBM ran. This was a good thing. 2. The attitude of the user group mentality really set in - and set MWLUG apart from IamLUG. I was really frustrated with two user group conferences, within 300 miles of each other, in the same month in 2009. This year - it didn't matter. Only 12 people, including IBM and the sponsors, were duplicated between IamLUG and MWLUG. And I think this was great. 3. Sessions were far more relaxed and in the same vein as a user group meeting. Lots of new speakers who have never spoken before. More low key sessions with a lot more Q&A. The v
